My “babies” are officially out of their teenage years, but I still remember vividly those early days of newborn life and the need for some kind of schedule. Some days it happened and many other days it didn’t, but that’s life with a newborn! As a Fort Collins newborn photographer I get asked often during sessions what helped in those early days. My go to is always getting out of the house for fresh air, socialization and a change of scenery. What better way to do that than with parent and me classes! It’s a great way to meet other parents in the same phase of life, similar interests and also the need for adult conversation! I loved the parent and me classes I went to with my daughters and it was definitely a lifesaver in the early days.
Looking to maintain or improve your wellness and fitness prior to and/or just after your newborn arrives? This is a great group to not only elevate your fitness and wellness prior to and after your sweet babe joins your family, but also meet other new or veteran moms in the Fort Collins area. They host a variety of workouts for all fitness levels and schedules so you just pick the day and time that works best for you and your little one’s schedule. The best part is that it’s not all fitness, but they host events as well with a full schedule of activities for you and baby!
If music is your jam (get it? See what I did there?!), then Emily Baldwin Music and her Sound Beginnings classes are likely for you. Music is great at any age for mental health and the added benefit for infants and young children is brain development. Emily has developed her Sound Beginnings class for parents and their children, ages 0-4 years old to aid in gross and fine motor skills, literacy, music experience and parent bonding. Plus you can meet others with a love for music and little ones at home! Classes don’t end there and you can “graduate” up to Let’s Play Music. Music is huge in many households and when you hire me as your Fort Collins newborn photographer, you know I’ll highly encourage any kind of music that not only calms your little one(s), but also you during your session!
As someone who is extremely inflexible, I’ll always give a shout out to yoga since I need to do so much more of it in my life! Add in baby and me yoga and I’ll fully endorse it! Stretching, breathing, peaceful mindset are all things needed and necessary in the adventure of parenthood, especially in the early days! Ellen has created classes to include your new baby while getting the most from yoga and build strength mentally and physically in your postnatal body. Definitely something I wish I had taken advantage of in those early motherhood days.
Story time is ALWAYS a good idea with infants and kids of any age. And the best part?! It’s FREE!! The Poudre Library system has story times nearly every day at one of their 3 libraries. Their story times are geared towards various ages and there are 2 story times offer a bilingual option. I loved going to story time with my girls when they were little. Someone else reads the story, there was usually some small craft or music/dancing involved and I met lots of other parents. We’ve only been here 18 months, but we use our library almost weekly and I absolutely love it. Highly recommend going there regularly with your little ones!
I highly recommend checking out each of the websites to look at scheduling, pricing and sending an email with any questions you have about programming. This is just a tip of the iceberg of parent and me options in the Fort Collins and Norther Colorado areas.
