Trying So Hard To Play It Cool
But it's just not going to happen.
I thought about doing a blog post about my kids, what's going on right now, the snow that didn't really happened in Northern Virginia, then quickly putting a blurb at the bottom about how I was a guest designer at American Crafts.
I'm going a different route, because today's post is all about:
HOLY CRAP, I'M A GUEST DESIGNER AT AMERICAN CRAFTS!!!!!!!!!
I quite literally fell off of my computer chair when I opened the email from Paige asking me if I wanted to guest design. It took me exactly .00001 seconds to respond with a "does a bear ^&%$ in the woods?", or maybe rather a big, fat YES! I have loved AC since I started using cardstock and patterned paper way back when so this is definitely a dream come true! And the fact that someone reached out to me, well, that's just icing, cherries and whipped cream on the cake!
So, gushing aside, I was sent and worked with the bits embellishments. I got to work on my first project and created this for my girls for Valentine's Day. I used the bits to create coupons for them and put them in a little pocket on the card:
AC has some longer tags/bits from the City Park line that I knew how I wanted to use them on a page. I cut them in half, paired them with ribbons and made a sun for this page featuring my big girl on her big 2 wheeler:
I went a more sophisticated way with a layout about my oldest daughter's birthday last year and used the bits as a banner and as a journaling spot. That middle picture still stops me in my tracks. I can just envision her as a teenager and beyond and it makes my heart skip a beat.
And finally, I actually made a mini! I know, can you believe it?! First cards, then a mini. But their products make it easy so as soon as I saw the City Park products I knew they would be perfect for those Costa Rica photos I've been hoarding for 9 months now! I still have more photos to put in, but happy with how it looks so far:
If you stayed for the entire post, then I thank you very much for allowing me to gush, toot and share my excitement. I know it's often frowned upon to scream your accomplishments from the rooftops, but if we don't celebrate our own successes, then who will?!
Have a great, snowy Wednesday!
