My birthday 2 weeks ago was hands down my best birthday in all my 40 years! I was completely blown away by the creativity, generosity and just plain awesome-ness of my friends here in Okinawa. Two of my closest friends here told me to keep the Saturday after my birthday free because we were going out for girl time. Any opportunity for girl time is good in my book!
Little did I know that they had an amazing photography scavenger hunt with 6 of my favorite Okinawa friends/neighbors! They made a list of 40 things/people I needed to photograph and we did our best to capture them all!
We stopped first at Gold Hall, which seemed to be a restaurant/museum/green house (only in Okinawa!) It was such a cool building and as with most things in Okinawa, it’s one of those places that you would never think would be there and it was much bigger than it seemed from the outside. This cool building took care of many of the photos on my list and my friends definitely helped me out along the way!
It’s not a real photography birthday scavenger hunt without the obligatory jumping shot! I don’t even want to tell you how many takes we did on these!! We may or may not have been slightly peeing our pants from too much laughing.
And trying to call to our inner Monkees (I’m not sure we were nearly as cool as them, but close):
I was content with this amazing and thoughtful birthday celebration, but turned out this was merely the hearty appetizer. These ladies got my other favorite Okinawa friends together for a surprise party after my afternoon/evening out and I could not have been more happy and grateful that all these people took the time to get together for little old me. The Mister helped out too and I love him more for thinking of doing this for me.
How lucky am I that these people are in my life?!! Seriously beyond blessed, grateful and just beside myself with their kindness and friendship.
Not sure a birthday could get any better than this and so happy I’ve not only met these people and families, but even more happy they are part of my family’s life!
