Snow Session Brought to You by the 1st Day of Spring – Newport, Rhode Island Family Photographer
Betsy contacted me way back in September about doing a snow session while we were both stationed here in Newport. I jumped on it because, well, at that time it was still in the 60’s and 70’s and I thought snow sounds “FUN”… Fast forward to nearing the end of January and we were questioning if said snow session would happen since we only had a dusting at that time. Be careful what you wish for my friends. We then got pummeled – for 2 solid months!!
Our first snows came in like the tazmanian devil with 50+ mph winds so our snow session didn’t happen for some time. Finally on the first day of spring the dear New England weather people said we would get 3-6”. That 3-6″ then quickly turned into over a FOOT of snow!! What better time than a missed prediction to head out for family photos?!
I won’t lie – it was cold, but at least the winds held off for us. I love all the reds and blacks that Betsy and her cute family picked out for the session and lucky for me I grabbed my favorite red blanket before heading out the door. I’m glad I did because some of my favorite photos came from that.
Now, what you don’t see here in these sledding photos is that I was buried up to my thighs in snow on this hill! The poor kiddos were nearly lost a few times because the snow drifts were swallowing all of us up. Didn’t stop them from having a great time sledding and having a little snowball fight too.
Thank you so much again Betsy and Paul! So glad we were actually able to make this happen!
