Pure Strength – Stuttgart Germany Senior Photographer
I’m not even sure where to start talking about Brenna and what she means to our family. She came into this world putting us all immediately on alert and full of worry, but very soon after showing us what a special girl she is.
Brenna was born with spina bifida and this was not known to my sister and Brenna’s dad until she came into this world. At only a few hours old she went through her first of many, many, many, many surgeries in her life. I felt helpless being over 3 hours away in school, but knew there were so many prayers going up for her, my sister and our family. She was very fragile at first, but now we know that was the first of many of her fights.
Brenna is what many refer to as an old soul. Since she was a child she was content to sit at the “big table” with adults and just listen and chime in on occasion. She came to visit us in North Carolina when she was just a little girl and one or our dogs decided she was just the right height to steal her food for the weekend. She never made a peep and instead just giggled at Joepa and asked for another sandwich or chicken nugget!
Brenna is a lover of Diet Coke, country music, her phone and harassing her grandpa. My girls love going to spend time with Brenna. Ella usually takes advantage of the free lift everywhere and Maya loves hanging out and comparing music on their phones.
Brenna has been an inspiration to all those she has come into contact with in her life. Through surgeries, pain and just every day obstacles you certainly don’t hear much complaining from her. After all the needles and doctor/hospital trips I would have been screaming long ago. She has more strength than most mobile people I know. She gives us scares every so often, but always comes out stronger on the other end.
I’ll be sad that we don’t get to see her wheel across that graduation stage next spring with her whole loud cheering section screaming for joy, but if I listen I might be able to hear them all the way over here! She’s on to great things and can’t wait to see her flourish.
On a side note: she was a real trooper with some glitter on a hot July Indiana day. Said photographer didn’t check wind direction and well, sweat and glitter make a lovely paste in case you were wondering…
