Project 365 – Winter Has Arrived – Newport, Rhode Island Family Photographer
So this week came in with a bang of winter for us. Not just some snow, but a full on blizzard complete with 50+ mph winds (yikes). We thought we were ready for a winter storm, but New England doesn’t mess around!
This photo was just the very beginning of the snow and before the winds kicked in. Kind of serene, no?!
Not everyone knows this, but for several years now I have worked in the scrapbooking industry. I have been very fortunate to have some opportunities to meet and work with some great people along the way. Getting snowed in means getting work done for Scrapbook and Cards Today.
Winter Storm Juno – the Aftermath
We didn’t get as much as originally predicted, but still ended up with 15″ (give or take) and so much crazy drifting! Some areas had no snow and others had FEET! I found out not long after we moved to Rhode Island that the long red arm on all the fire hydrants isn’t just an engineering flaw, but rather so emergency workers can find the fire hydrants when there are FEET AND FEET of snow (say what?!).
So remember those winds and cold I just mentioned?? Yeah, it was even colder and windier just around the corner from our little corner of the Fort. My neighbor and friend, Julie, posted a picture of this bench and I knew I had to go capture one too before the ice melts, in oh say, April…

I had the pleasure of having my beautiful 12 year old as my lunch date today while the other little rugrat was out on a playdate. We went to a diner I’ve been wanting to try since we moved here and it was just as I imagined it – some greasy hamburgers and omelets. However, the absolute best part was hanging out with my girl and chatting away. Man I love this age!
A different view of said 12 year old. This is how you can find her most days after school and off and on during the weekends – on her bed with her iPod. She has definitely entered Tweendom!
I cannot even express how grateful I am that Ella has finally found “her people”. She is our social butterfly and thrives on hanging out with her friends. It took her a while when we moved here to find girls she clicked with and I’m so glad she finally did. These girls are as crazy as she is and I love it!
