Never Too Early For Cake – Newport, Rhode Island Family Photographer
I’m a firm believer that cake is the breakfast of champions. When you are having your first taste of cake at the ripe old age of 1 then it’s definitely a great way to start off your second year of life, am I right?!
I met Debie at the Welcome Aboard back in August for all the new and returning military spouses of the Naval Station here in Newport. I’m a sucker for an Australian accent so I definitely enjoyed talking with her about her son’s upcoming first birthday. As with those events you give your cards, talk to tons of people and hope to hear from them again afterward. To my surprise I heard from her not long after and started planning for my first Rhode Island cake smash session.
We had planned on a different location, but switched it at the last minute after seeing Nicole’s beautiful photos and I’m so incredibly glad we did! We had awesome early morning weather that couldn’t have turned out any better, and we had the entire lighthouse area to ourselves so it all worked out perfectly. We were prepared to flee if anyone from the hotel decided cake in the morning was not ok. I dare say they would be baby and cake haters if that happened 😉
Baby S completely and utterly spoiled me during our session and set me up for failure with all other babies and toddlers! He is so laid back and just went with the flow of all our different set ups. He was all smiles every time mom and dad came in to make funny faces and get his attention. Seriously, could not have asked for a better session with this awesome guy.
He dabbled in some icing when we first put the cake down and we thought he seemed to like it after examining it for a bit…
He decided even though he might have liked the cake, he did NOT like being dirty with cake and icing all over his hands! He definitely prefers his cake clean. I don’t blame him – I love cake, but love it with some utensils.
He finally decided enough was enough and he was very much done with the cake!
Thank you so much Debie, Stephen and Baby S! I loved getting to know you all and being there to celebrate a big milestone in your family.
