The glory of living in an area that so many great travel spots are within a 2 hour or less plane ride? AWESOME!! The downside? Too many places to go and not enough travel funds and time to do it in!
When my good friend and I realized our husbands would be gone at the same time over a holiday weekend we pounced on the opportunity to get the kiddos and ourselves off the island for a couple of days. Tokyo was our victim city and we tried to fit in as much as we could that was kid friendly.
The first stop that was a must see for the kids was a 5 story toy store. And since it’s Tokyo it didn’t disappoint! All the kids came out with big smiles on their faces:
That means they were ready for some mama exploring the next day! None of us realized how insanely hot it was going to be though. We were quite literally melting our faces off. We were hoping to get away from the heat of Okinawa, but I think we brought it with us.
Luckily we found some shaved ice and carnival rides in the nick of time before we lost all people under the age of 12.
And you can never go wrong with a petting zoo, even if it is 100 degrees outside!
Aside from the kid friendly sites in Ueno Park we got to see some beautiful scenery too!
Until next time Tokyo! Next up another mama getaway sans kids (I may or may not be over the top excited about this!)
