Encinitas Fairwell Tour – Encinitas Family Photographer
It’s not exactly a secret that we military families move – A LOT!! The upside to that is we get to live in and experience many different places. The downside is that we may not get to come back to some of these great places.
I was so excited when Rachel contacted me to do a family session, but with a farewell tour vibe too. Matthew is transitioning to civilian life so their life in Encinitas is coming to a close for now. Rachel told me where they frequented while they’ve lived in Encinitas so off we went to explore those places, but with a camera this time! I love these types of sessions. It’s what makes the various places our home; where we feel comfortable and where we vibe.
Our first stop was Philz Coffee. I took it as my civic duty to try it out before our shoot and they frequent the coffee shop for good reason; I’ll definitely be going back! And it just so happens that Philz has a pretty incredible mural outside which was a perfect back drop for us.
We started to move on to our next spot, but sometimes you need to take a break in front of a cool wood wall and dance a little bit as the cars go thumping by on Coast Highway on a beautiful Sunday afternoon! For real I need to talk about how much swagger and rhythm an 18 month old has in his little body! He is a dancing machine and blocks everything else out while he jams and I LOVE it!
After our little dance party we headed off to URBN just a couple of blocks away. Sadly I didn’t have a chance to personally try this pizza place out while I was scouting, but I’ll be coming back to try it. I mean, the cool seating outside to enjoy the SoCal weather and downtown Encinitas life is worth it for sure!
While out exploring even cities I think I already know, there is so much to be found off the main drag. This is definitely true of Encinitas. If you find yourself in those smaller alleys behind Coast Highway there some amazing murals and art work there. And without the foot and vehicle traffic to deal with which is a bonus when exploring! We found these cool murals right behind Coast Highway Traders and Union Cowork – definitely worth checking out!
Our final stop just before the sun said good night was Moonlight Beach and boy was it worth it! Rachel said they’ve come down to this beach a lot during their time in Encinitas. It’s such a great beach with tons of activities for little and big. We went on a night when the tide was high so it prevented us from going down onto the beach, but staying up top was pretty magical too! Can we just stop and look at how gorgeous they are in this golden SoCal light?! I need Rachel to come dress me and all my future families who need wardrobe assistance!
Thank you so much Rachel, Matthew and Bodhi for introducing me to new cool places in Encinitas and just being a dream family to photograph! Now I’m just sad you’re moving since this will be our only session; or it just means you’ll have to come back for another session! Best wishes on all your new adventures!
