A Faithful Family – Okinawa Photographer
I met Nicole a couple of times through our friend Patti. What I first remember about Nicole are those amazing curly locks she has! As a lifetime straight haired gal I’m always a bit envious of those perfect curls I see on other women. I know they wish for straight hair too – grass is always greener, right?! What I next remember about Nicole is Patti telling me she and her husband were adopting a little girl from here in Japan. I didn’t realize until I moved here that it is very cumbersome to adopt a child from Japan. Not that any adoption is easy, but it’s especially difficult here. But they persisted and little Miss M came to live with them about a year ago!
What I also know about Nicole and her family is that they have a strong faith in God and while never “preachy”, they are also not afraid to show it either. This truly shows in our little Okinawa military community. If you mention this family’s name and if the other person knows them the immediate response is “oh my goodness I LOVE that family”. Seriously, every single time! It’s amazing and shows what a truly nice, giving and awesome family they are.
What I learned during this session is the fun and laughter that happens in this family. Nicole came into it saying “I don’t expect too much, just get the photos you can and I’ll be happy”. We had so much fun together and it shows in all these photos. And in the midst of all this fun and laughter we also captured some really great family photos and I couldn’t be happier about them. As usual some of my favorites are the candids – the kids running around and laughing!
You would never know little M has not always been part of her new family. The love exudes not only from Nicole and Mel, but from the boys as well. This is their sister and they truly love her. There is something to be said for the kind of parents helped to shape these boys and they’ll be amazing young men as well. Nicole and Mel are awaiting another young girl to join their family and I cannot wait to meet her! We are definitely getting together for another quick photo to include the new member of their family.
Thank you again Nicole! I’m only sad that I didn’t get to know she and her family sooner and better. Such a positive light in our community.
