3 Reasons To Update Your Branding Photos – San Diego Photographer
I’m a photographer, right?! So that should mean I put myself in front of the camera to get some amazing photos of myself for my website and social media too, right?!
That’s a big fat wrong! I’m terrible about this and I’ll just say it’s mostly because I’m lazy. I finally broke down before we left Germany and had some new photos of myself taken and it ended up being so much fun with gorgeous photos to boot! All of this to say here are a few key reasons to get your branding/business photos done ASAP!
It’s the perfect chance to get gussied up for a day: get your make up and hair done and put on an outfit that makes you feel amazing
Unless you are working out of an office outside of your house, chances are you are very much like me and sit in pajamas, yoga pants and a t shirt older than your house working all day. There may or may not be times I also question when it was I actually brushed my teeth that day. Getting your business/branding photos done is a perfect way to take one day to pamper yourself and have beautiful photos to show for it too. Sometimes I feel like I need to document the days that I actually did something with my hair when it’s been so long that it’s been tossed in a bun!
Your clients/customers/collaborators want to see YOU
Trust me, if someone didn’t go directly to your website they are googling you and want to see a face to the brand. I know I do. Who am I working with on this? Who am I looking for when we get together? I want to see a human on the other side of the business piece of it. And if you’re as vain as I am I want my clients/families to see that I can clean up nice since I normally show up to sessions looking like a disheveled mess! Sessions usually result in me on the ground and getting dirty and sweaty so I leave the hair and make up behind!
Take a day to celebrate you and your business
Even if you only have a few hours, take some time to celebrate why you began this business and this journey. Branding sessions go beyond traditional head shots; it incorporates your message, your branding and your personality. This can include playing tourist in your own city/town. Two other photographers and I made a popular San Diego landscape our playground for an hour at sunset. They put on beautiful clothes and we romped through the water and waves to get some gorgeous photos of them. They take emotive photos of their clients and I think they conveyed that really well!
If a local business is on board utilize their aesthetic as an amazing back drop. Luckily in San Diego and North County, many coffee shops and eateries are on board with taking a few photos as long as we don’t impeded their operations. Lofty Coffee was so amazing as another business owner and I used their Encinitas location as an awesome back drop for her branding photos.
