Oki New Year

We are having a fun week over at the Elle’s Studio blog where we were teamed up with the Jenni Bowlin’s team to showcase Elle’s and Jenni’s fun products working together!  I love a good challenge and these colors and patterns were complementary yet contrasting enough that the wheels were turning in how to pair them together.  I finally figured out how I wanted to make that happen and came up with this:

I wanted to pair some subtle larger papers with pops of bright colors from the embellishments and blue paper strips.  I cut an extra “tag strip” from some Elle’s Cameron paper and lined it up against the gray for a bit of contrasting.  I love those little rub on stick pins from Jenni and knew I wanted to add that in there somewhere and thought the date was very fitting!

Thanks for stopping by and head on over this week to see how the rest of the team joined the Elle and Jenni forces together!

Scrapbook and Cards Today Summer Edition

This Friday the newest edition of Scrapbook and Cards Today will be available for download and we at SCT are VERY excited about it! It’s an awesome issue packed with awesome layouts and ideas.

I am extra excited because that layout right there on the front belongs to little old me!  Could not believe that Becky and Catherine picked it to be on the cover!

This release is going to be huge and there are lots of things going on, including a chance to win a subscription!  This has been a long time favorite magazine of mine.  Yes, even way before I was on the design team!  The quality is just outstanding.

We are having a fun Facebook event so head on over to let us know you’ll be joining us on Friday!

And are you on Twitter?  If you tweet with the hashtag #sctmagazine you will enter into a chance to win!!

So many fun things happening and I can’t wait for you all to see the summer edition on Friday!

Baby S

I wanted to share my last project for my Elle’s Studio gallery in June.  I’m sad my time is up with Elle because I had so much fun creating with all of her beautiful tags and papers these last 6 months.  I’m very happy to have had the opportunity!

The card I made this month is the same design I’ve used several times that I just love.  I figure if it “ain’t broke” why fix it?!  I had a baby shower to go to last month for one of the wives in our battalion and I knew she was naming their baby girl an S name, but didn’t give out the actual name so I went with that!

I used mostly the new Saltwater line for this and cut out an “S” with my Silhouette.  I love using the negative space from the Silhouette cut and simply back it with contrasting patterned paper.

A few layers and some tag and button embellishments and it was all done!  These cards are super easy to make and they tend to be my go to for any occasion.

Thanks for stopping by!

First and Last Days

It’s hard to believe that almost 6 years ago I dropped this little girl, my heart, off at the big world of elementary school:

She was barely 5, excited but also anxious about going off to her very first day of kindergarten.  I was more anxious than excited, but knew she would love it and love it she did!  With 2 knee band aids and all she held her head high, walk in with barely a quiver of her chin and had the best kindergarten teacher we could have asked for for her!

Since then she championed through 4 schools (one school attended 2 different times), so I guess technically 5 schools in 6 years.  That’s a lot of change for a little girl who likes things to remain in her comfort zone.

And each and every time she held her head high, walked in and made herself at home.  I could not be more proud of her and all the resilience she has shown through all of these years.

Today she officially commenced her elementary school career, walking out as a middle schooler:

Look at that grown up, beautiful amazing girl!  I am so beyond proud of her and the girl she is growing into.  I am proud of her not because of grades, popularity, etc., but because she is one of the kindest, big hearted, hardest working girls I have known.  Yes, biased, but I watch her and swell with pride each day!  I can’t wait to watch her bloom even more, but would also like to hold time for a few years to enjoy her now in all her glory!  I think we’re both anxious for middle school, but we’ll definitely get through it together!

Tadake

Did you see the new feature from Elle’s Studio each and every month?!  Elle is putting out a monthly kit delivered to you that is featured on the 10th of every month.  Last month’s kit was phenomenal and sold out very quickly so this month you’ll want to get your shopping fingers ready!  This month the kit is all about summer time and has some great colors for your projects.

This kit will be available at 8:00 am PST so just a few more hours from now!

I had a chance to play with the new kit and loved using these combined with the new Saltwater and Cameron lines.

I used several pieces from the kit to highlight our trip this spring to Tadake Falls here on Okinawa.  I’m loving the new vellum in both the kits and in the complete lines that Elle has put out recently.  I’m not normally a huge vellum fan, but in bits and pieces it works great!

I still have lots of tags and bits left from this kit so it really does go a long way on all your projects.  Don’t forget to head on over and pick one up at 8 PST, and while you’re over there you can also snag some of the Cameron and Saltwater lines that are in the shop too!
