The time is upon us again here in Stuttgart. Winter. The long, long, long dark winter. That lasts until April. It’s my last one and I’m actually not very sad about it!
With the cold comes the darkness and bare trees. Not exactly ideal for a pretty outdoor shoot in our beautiful Stuttgart area. This doesn’t mean that family photos are completely out of the question. Rather, this is actually a great time to do them because I come to YOU! You stay snuggly in your warm house, I come to your turf and photograph the best thing about your house – all the people that live there.
I was fortunate enough to do 3 sessions with this beautiful family, with 2 of those being in home sessions. In home sessions are the only way I photograph newborns and I was the lucky photographer that got to document the newest member of this family at home with his awesome brothers and sisters!
He got to stay snug as a bug in his house and while I snapped away at this little guy, his siblings played until their hearts’ content off to the side. And when you are baby #5 you do NOT wake up when there is all kinds of ruckus around you!
The other issue and big question I face is “but I live on base; it isn’t exactly pretty”. And my response every single time: “it doesn’t matter”.
It doesn’t. I’m photographing people, relationships, interactions and YOU. Not your house.
This session took place on base and I’m pretty sure no one would have guessed it on first look. My focus is the family; not the house.
And there’s no deep cleaning necessary I promise! Most families simply pick up items from the rooms I request and beyond that I just move things around as needed and pick up behind myself. My mama made sure I learned that!
These are perfect sessions for families with little ones. I can tell older kids to “suck it up buttercup” when they get chilly, but when baby and toddler get cold it’s all downhill from there at an outdoor session! Little ones love showing off their favorite toys and jump for me on the bed when they normally can’t get away with that on a regular basis.
Thank you so much again Kelley and family! I loved that you had so much faith in me and invited me in your home on a regular basis!
