Wild, Peaceful and Free
I’ve mentioned already that I love being able to photograph families multiple times during a duty station tour. It’s so difficult since we’ve been moving every 1-2 years for so many years! This Germany tour has been a blessing in so many ways, and particularly in this way. I get to see and photograph families multiple times before we pack up all of our stuff and move yet again.
I was very, very fortunate enough to photograph Jill’s family not once or twice, but THREE times! She came to me with an idea she had. She wanted to just her kids photographed and showed their true personalities and blow those photos up for their new rooms in their new home when they moved. Now THIS I was definitely on board with; this is what I live for in sessions!
Jill’s oldest is typical oldest: looking after her siblings, carrying them, more quiet and serious and has a wandering look, deep in her thoughts. She also has a beautiful smile to boot!
Then there’s the only boy. The middle child. The mischevious one! I love this kid! In our 3 sessions, we have always, ALWAYS done running and jumping photos and he remembers every single time. I get many takes for this photo and we have a great time getting just the right shot!
Finally, there’s the youngest. Jill warned me that she would not be the most cooperative when the camera came out. Let me tell you that she made me WORK for her photos! Completely and utterly work! And as a typical last born, she is the wild one. The risk taker, but so incredibly cute and sweet!
I didn’t see them all that often, but I do miss seeing them and of course photographing them too. Here’s to hoping our paths cross again on this crazy military and moving path.
