Tis the Season

It’s August 1st (nearly the 2nd for me:)and that means that there’s a new gallery up at Write.Click.Scrapbook for August.  I really love this month’s layout theme and the play on words.  I know I did a double take when I saw the theme because I thought maybe I was looking at December instead of August.  But, there are certain things that scream August/summer for most people and we definitely have that in our house too!

The summer means 2 things in the Paustenbaugh house:  Moving and Swimming.  I went with swimming for my theme this month after getting some good photos this summer of the girls putting their game faces on during their meets.

The girls started swimming competitively last summer when we were in Virginia for our subdivision team and they both loved it.  Well, Ella didn’t so much enjoy the daily practices, but come meet time, that girl had her game face on.  She certainly got her competitive streak from her dad because if she didn’t finish like she wanted to she was not happy with herself!  Maya, well, she takes after her old mom.  She enjoys getting some ribbons, but is ok if she isn’t first!

We were fortunate enough to get to Okinawa early enough in the summer that they were able to swim with the Dolphins this summer as well.  I think I’ve crossed over to the swim team mom side because it was not just enjoyable for them, but I had fun going and watching them too!  Let’s just say it’s much more low key over here and not the extravaganza with 100s of people circling the pool.  Win, win for all if you ask me.  And the best part? There are opportunities for them to travel to nearby countries and mainland Japan to swim as well.  Definite win-win for mom since of course they need a parental chaperone to go with them!  First up, Taiwan in November!

Swim season is over until October, so for now we’re enjoying some low key fun time swimming, but those game faces will come back on in October for fall swimming.

Have I mentioned I’m excited about living in a constant warm climate?!
