This past fall we had a pretty extraordinary season here in Stuttgart. The leaves were beautiful, the sun was out and bringing some of the most beautiful light and I had some of the best families here in Germany to photograph.
There was a weekend that we had planned on being out of town, however, we decided at the last minute to stay put so I put out a quick blurb for anyone interested in a shoot before the leaves were officially gone.
As it turns out one of these last minute families gave me a session that I had been looking for in my work for some time!
My heart sings during sessions when the family is interacting together and being themselves. At most sessions I get “oh I don’t you think you really want us to be ourselves”! I do; I really, REALLY do I promise.
This beautiful family had no problem doing just that and were also naturals with me being some paparazzi to their family time. Absolutely loved it and the time went by so fast with some great photos as a result. We went to one of my favorite spots and had the run of it all to ourselves, save for a couple of dogs passing through so it was absolutely a perfect spot for the boys to be just that – boys.
Some of my favorite photos result from capturing details of interactions while also getting the big picture of the whole family. Mamas and their boys have special bonds I have found and it was no different for Lori and her sweet boys. I loved that they could have cared less that I was there and gave some extra cuddles before running off for more chase and soccer time!
As usual I always make mom and dad let me take a few of them too since that’s where it all started for their family. These 2 did not disappoint!
So happy we were able to take advantage of the beautiful color before it disappeared for the year. The last minute opening was so very worth it!
