After nearly 18 months in Stuttgart, I have figured out that the weather is on it’s very own program. In August, I had a session where we were freezing and wearing coats and sweaters and days later for this session we were sweating our hineys off before the camera was even out of the bag! It’s unpredictable, but it’s beautiful in Germany so I’ll forgive it.
This gorgeous family had grandparents in town for a few weeks and lucky me got to photograph their extended family on a warm evening at Schloss Solitude. They were all super troopers in the heat and didn’t miss a beat making the best of it.
I think my favorite part of Schloss are the open fields behind the palace where little ones (and big ones) can let loose, explore and relax a bit in front of the camera. We picked apples, found snails and grandma gave a few lessons on her own camera. It’s never too early to learn the camera!
The result of that little 5 minute lesson with grandma? This beautiful photo with my camera that I handed over to a confident 6 year old to capture her Mimi and Chappy – I love it!
This session was one of my favorites because we transitioned from Schloss over to their house and a park just down the street. By this time we were all comfortable with each other and the camera so we got some great photos of everyone having fun together as the heat subsided a bit.
And one of my favorite photos from the day? The one where I told them I just wanted to get their shoes because they were awesome and not to worry about smiling at the camera. Hands down one of my all time favorites!
And the actual “you don’t need to smile” photo:
This is definitely one of my favorite parks in Stuttgart. Lots of fun activities and plenty of shade to keep us cool.
Thank you so much again Natalya and Brian! So loved photographing your fantastic family!
