When we found out we were moving to Germany we immediatly knew we would be going to whoop it up at Volksfest (Stuttgart’s Oktoberfest). When we arrived on the fest grounds it was like nothing we had envisioned! For us Americans it’s essentially the equivalent to a huge state fair. Rides, food, games, and of course “tents”. These tents are giant buildings that house 2000+ of your closest friends!!
The atmosphere is so fun and after a couple of years I knew I wanted to do a couples session before leaving Stuttgart. I’ve done a family carnival session when we were in Newport, Rhode Island and absolutely loved it! I found an amazing couple to do this session with and love, love how it all turned out!
As is typical of Germany, our session started and got a bit delayed by a bit of rain. Lucky for us the skies cleared and we hit the pavement for a night of games, beers and fun.
Our first fest in 2015, we made the mistake of buying what looked like a gingerbread cookie from one of the very many cookie stands throughout fest. We took one bite and knew immediately that these pretty cookies are not made for eating – haha! We sooned learned that these are purchased as decoration, not for consuming!
I love that Julie and David were up for anything! Play a game? Sure! Grab a beer? Of course! Pretty much the epitome of an evening at fest.

Julie writes a pretty fantastic blog to document she and David’s travels while living here in Europe. Go check it out: http://cappuccinoandadream.com/
Thank you so much again Julie and David! Here’s hoping I find something as equally awesome in our new San Diego location…
